About Us
The Moderne School of Theatre Dance was founded in September 2020 in Hampton, UK, by Ms Lynsey Delaforte. After 15 years teaching for many successful dancing schools in London and Surrey, Ms Lynsey finally fulfilled her life long dream, and opened her very own dance school, in the middle of a pandemic no less!
We have a highly unique ethos; unlike the majority of dance schools, our dancers do not take examinations; we feel children are on something of a conveyor belt of perpetual examination from Year 2 onwards and, whilst formal assessments have their place, they are not necessary at graded level and can be anathema to creativity. Ballet and the other theatre dances are performance art forms and as such we focus on building a strong knowledge base, excellent technique and stagecraft, allowing each child to develop their own inner artist in a structured, disciplined environment.
